pointer Inside the Data Warehouse
MI9 Business Intelligence provides a pre-configured multi-dimensional Data Warehouse complete with relational data structures designed for rapid and flexible access to enterprise data. It is based upon ROLAP technology, with full support for virtual OLAP cubes and data marts. The schema design is modified snowflake. An SDK toolkit is included to facilitate creation of new business subject areas. For performance and security, metadata is held in a separate database that contains definitions for the EDWH structures and thousands of re-usable BI components that have been pre-defined by MI9 Information Engineers. A third database houses the volatile data structures, including .Net programs, stored procedures and MI9 Foundation infrastructure components for data management and system integration.
pointer MicroStrategy Tools
For the reporting layer of MI9 Business Intelligence, we use MicroStrategy’s ROLAP data warehouse tools: Intelligence Server, Web, Narrowcaster, Architect, Administrator, and Desktop. MicroStrategy’s OLAP services provide comprehensive support for virtual cubes, while still providing access to the entire ROLAP data warehouse. We also take maximum advantage of MicroStrategy’s flash-based, dynamic dashboard technology for implementing advanced scorecards and dashboards. This rich collection of data visualization controls assists retailers in interpreting at a glance complex collections of information. Using these video graphs, it is easy to playback key performance data between selected dates or times and then to drill down to do further data interrogation.
pointer Microsoft
Microsoft technology ensures a secure technology investment at the lowest cost per transaction for MI9 Business Intelligence. We use the .NET framework and data integration/ETL tools including: NTI (near-time interface), BizTalk, and MSMQ messaging. Numerous Microsoft-based user interfaces are supported, including full integration with MS Office and MS Outlook email services. Traditionally we use Microsoft SQL Server 2005 as our database of choice; but we can also implement using Oracle or IBM DB2.
pointer Netezza
MI9 has ported the Business Intelligence System to the Netezza platform. The database design has been fully optimized for Netezza including porting of the entire MI9 retail metadata library. Even The ETL tools have been re-engineered. Together MI9 and Netezza provide the most sophisticated high performance database for retail.

Netezza appliances provide a database-server-storage configuration in a purpose-built system designed to perform complex queries against large volumes of stored data. Netezza data warehouse appliances are designed for blisteringly fast analysis against terabytes of data 10-100 times faster than traditional solutions, with a lower TCO and greater ease of use. Netezza uses massively parallel processing and an architecture that puts processing right inside storage to provide a brute force solution that can deal with complex analytics against large data volumes.

Marrying MI9 Business Intelligence to the Netezza platform provides large retailers exceptional efficiencies of scale in high volume database environments.
